There's nothing quite like seeing a favorite influencer or celebrity bring their unique vision to a product. So, when beauty content creator Teree Daisuke first teased his new brand, the beauty community couldn't wait to try it. Only it wasn't a makeup brand—it's an accessories brand.

Meet Tillo, a high-quality beauty tools, accessories, and jewelry for Filipinos created by Teree, alongside Paolo F. Salapantan and Aerol H. Dy.

But why hair accessories? Teree shared that launching a hair accessory brand was a natural step, as he's always been a fan of wearing them in his videos.

"Lagi akong naka headband, naka clips. Ang pinaka rason noon, tamad lang talaga ako magayos ng buhok ko. Kaya may clips ako," he told the media during his brand launch, adding he wants to inspire people to enjoy the process of getting ready and help them feel confident.

People were expecting Teree to launch a beauty brand, but he surprised everyone with a hair accessory line. He said that to avoid any bias in his product reviews, he wanted to keep his brand separate.

Putting the 'fun' in 'functional'

In an interview with PhilSTAR L!fe, Teree shared that during the initial planning stages, he always kept Filipino consumers in mind.

"When I review products, na-aapply ko siya sa mga products na gusto kong ma-develop sa brand—na okay kailangan okay siya for everyone, dapat functional siya, ergonomical siya na hindi basta headband, it's something na can help," he said.

"Dapat durable siya, it can last you long. Diba [sa] makeup natin, gusto natin it will last you the entire day, so yung mga products namin, naghanap kami ng material that can last long, na magagamit mo talaga," Teree explained, adding they used acetate made from organic aggregate materials for certain product lines.

The acetate claw clips are a bit higher-priced than your average hair accessories, ranging from P600 to P750. However, Tillo also offers more affordable options, like plastic clips that cost between P100 and P140 for two.

"Kinonsider ko talaga ['yung] budget ng tao. Kasi ayoko naman na [sabihin nila] 'ang mahal naman ng products mo'. Meron din kaming mga mas affordable products na kahit ibang tao, afford nila bumili," Teree told L!fe.

Diversifying his career from content creation, Teree expressed admiration for fellow business owners, saying he has great respect for their dedication.

"I respect lahat ng Filipino brands kasi ang hirap magtayo ng business. It's not easy na kala mo in a snap of your finger, pak may busienss ka na. It takes so much time, it took us a year to develop everything, to decide on the brand, what products, the material—hindi siya ganun ka dali," he shared.

In the end, Teree only has one goal for Tillo and its customers: "Gusto ko they feel they have fun doing makeup, sa lahat. Even pag lumabas sila, they would feel confident na parang 'Pak! Ang ganda ko.'"
