How this skincare brand is changing the way you take care of your sensitive skin
I was watching the Instagram story of Maine Mendoza recently where she shared that she only “trusts products that are recommended by Dermatologists.” She went on to try a few Cetaphil products. On the IG story she was sampling the Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance Brightness Refresh Toner and the Brightening Day Protection Cream SPF15, “that have gentle ingredients,” she added.
That got me to thinking about my own skin regimen, which consists of Dermatologist-approved products for my very sensitive skin.
I know of many people who swear by Cetaphil because they tell me it is gentle on the skin and it works. So, I decided to try it out on my skin as I suffer from psoriasis. But before doing that I asked Jade Silva-Netto Ponoc, head of Cetaphil Business Unit, a few questions.
According to her, “Cetaphil is best suited for those with dry, sensitive skin”, and that “each line addresses every need of consumers.”
The line Jade mentioned are the different product lines targeted for diverse skincare consumers, including Cetaphil Baby for infants and toddlers, Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance for younger skinthusiasts, and the main Cetaphil line, which includes the cult favorite Gentle Skin Cleanser.
Being in the skincare game for decades, Cetaphil has amassed a loyal following among skincare users, with Jade sharing: “we pride ourselves on being the Most Prescribed Skincare Brand. We are trusted by Dermatologists because of safety, gentleness, and efficacy.”
While Cetaphil Baby advocates for the healthy start baby skin deserves, and the main Cetaphil line raises awareness for complete care for sensitive skin, the new Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance line focuses on being bright about your skin and skincare choices, as well as the importance of consistently doing your skincare routine, or in this case your Radiance Routine.
Overall, Cetaphil is all for healthy skin, with Jade further sharing: “the brand advocates using the right skincare product fit for every skin type, coupled with good amount of exercise, food, and water. Using the right skincare product will help improve your skin and lessen irritation, roughness, and dryness, thus keeping your skin healthier.”
Dealing with sensitive skin is one thing, and skin brightening is another conversation. Jade shares with me interesting points on the importance of skin brightening products, as well as the difference between brightening products suited for day and night.
“Due to factors such as sun exposure, stress, and other environmental factors, our skin can begin to experience hyperpigmentation or our complexions can start to look a bit dull, with freckles, sunspots, and acne scars. The ingredients Niacinamide and Sea Daffodil help to gently break down the melanin clusters that cause unwanted spots and even out the skin tone by getting rid of dead skin cells by helping the skin renew itself.”
Jade further shares: “the difference between day and night cream comes down to texture, ingredients, and protection from UV rays. During the day, our skin is exposed to UV rays, pollution, and environmental aggressors, all of which can wreak havoc on skin that’s not adequately protected. The day cream is formulated to help protect skin against these aggressors.
During deep sleep our skin repairs and regenerates itself. UV damage is not a factor at night, so night creams usually don’t offer SPF benefits. The consistency of our night cream is lighter and is quickly absorbed by the skin while providing hydration.”
The importance of a healthy skin regimen
Her answers were very enlightening and got me thinking about the importance of developing a healthy skin regimen, no matter what stage of life we are in.
“The new Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance helps even and brighten skin tone, without irritating or weakening the skin barrier,” Jade added. “It has a complex of ingredients specifically designed for sensitive skin, acting at each stage of the melanin processes without compromising its natural protective role. It acts on the root cause of pigmentation, clinically tested on even the most sensitive skin and with proven results in reducing dark spots and evens out skin tone in four weeks.”
For those people with sensitive skin who just need extra TLC for their skin, Cetaphil got you covered with their Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser. The Gentle Skin Cleanser is arguably the most popular product of the brand, which helps deal with sensitive skin. But it’s not the only product that can give complete care for your sensitive skin and will help defend against the five signs of skin sensitivity, which are dryness, irritation, roughness, tightness, and weakened skin barrier.
The brand also has the Ultra Gentle Body Wash, a fragrance-free body wash that delivers a unique nourishing combination of hydrating Pro-Vitamin B5 and Aloe Vera extract that leaves dry and sensitive skin feeling soft and replenished during and after shower. Meanwhile, the Moisturizing Lotion is a fast-absorbing lotion that enhances skin’s natural moisture, leaving skin feeling soft, smooth, and replenished. Cetaphil also has a sunscreen product to help protect sensitive skin from the sun. Cetaphil Sun is a lightweight, dermatologically-tested, and highly water-resistant face and body sunscreen that is suitable for sensitive skin. With SPF 50+ and UVA and UVB protection, Cetaphil Sun is the perfect sunscreen for daily use without leaving any white cast on the face.
It was time for me to give Cetaphil a chance.
We all know that, despite the challenging roles at home, in the workplace or the community, women always love to look beautiful or their very best as they perform their duties. Beauty, after all, as they say, is empowering. Being beautiful is not being vain. It's also about having confidence in yourself and how others perceive you.
That's why Cetaphil, the most prescribed skincare brand by Dermatologists, has always been at the forefront of empowering women by taking care of their skin and overall health. The brand also underscores the importance of consultations with a dermatologist to avoid self-diagnosing and medicating. With all the trends and DIY skincare practices that are on the rise, it’s best to only trust the experts and their recommendations especially when dealing with sensitive skin. In that way, we can be #BrightAboutSkin and only have products in our routine that are truly caring for our skin.
“Confidence is important in any aspect of life,” says Jade. “It can empower you to drive yourself further, to have a greater sense of self-worth. While our appearances don’t make up our entire identity, they play a huge role in how we’re interpreted — by ourselves and by others."
So, after saying goodbye to 2020, the most challenging year for everyone, and with the first half of 2021 almost over, Cetaphil encourages women to practice self-love and care.
It is no wonder that Cetaphil is advocating healthy skin for 2021. The stress from the extended stay at home has caused so many skin problems for people of all ages.
Cetaphil is ideal for all skin types, most especially for sensitive skin. Banking on its role as the most prescribed skincare brand by Dermatologists, the brand recently won the following Watsons awards: Cetaphil Baby won Baby Care Brand of the Year; Cetaphil Facial Cleanser won Dermo Skin Care Brand of the Year; and Cetaphil itself won the People’s Choice Award for Skin Care.
With all these awards it is perhaps a good time for me to start a Cetaphil routine. Maybe it’s a good time to mention that Cetaphil is for the whole family. I was told that it works well for kids, too, with its Cetaphil Baby line of products suited for newborns and toddlers.
As mentioned, Cetaphil has a special line curated for a baby’s delicate skin. Cetaphil Baby supports and strengthens the natural development of babies’ sensitive skin with a range of daily care products especially designed to protect and nourish from birth onwards.
Designed as a hair-to-toe wash, the Cetaphil Baby Gentle Wash & Shampoo gently cleanses the hair, scalp, and skin without drying it nor irritating the eyes of your baby. It contains glycerin and panthenol which are known emollients for strengthening the skin barrier. The Cetaphil Baby Gentle Cleansing Bar is perfect for daily use on the face and body of your toddler, which will help with their journey towards independent bathing. Its key ingredient, glycerin, helps retain moisture in the skin. Complete the circle with the Cetaphil Baby Advanced Protection Cream to help prevent and relieve chapped, chafed skin. The non-sticky, non-greasy formula is easy to apply. It also keeps your baby’s skin hydrated to areas with dry, rough skin such as the elbows and knees. It’s also formulated with organic calendula, allantoin, shea butter, sunflower seed oil, and vitamin B5 to soften and moisturize your baby’s skin all day long.
All the products in the Cetaphil Baby range are hypoallergenic, paraben-free, alcohol-free, and mineral oil-free. Each cleanser and moisturizer is recommended by Dermatologists and pediatricians to give your baby a healthy start they deserve.
The complete range is now available at the official Cetaphil Philippines stores in Lazada and Shopee. Customers can also purchase the products at Watsons, Mercury, and other leading drugstores and supermarkets nationwide.
