One man's trash is another's designer bag? Balenciaga intros nearly P100k garbage pouch
They say one man's trash is another's treasure—luxury fashion brand Balenciaga sure took this literally as it debuted a $1,790 (nearly P100,000) garbage bag.
Dubbed the "Trash Pouch," this drawstring handbag is part of Balenciaga's Winter collection and is inspired by, well, a trash bag, according to the brand's website.
"I couldn't miss an opportunity to make the most expensive trash bag in the world, because who doesn't love a fashion scandal?" Balenciaga creative director Demna told WWD.
The bag is made of calfskin leather, comes in three different colors of black, blue, and white, and has a matching strap.
Back in March, Kim Kardashian actually got a trash pouch from Balenciaga and even gushed about it after first seeing it on the Paris Fashion Week runway.
"Look what I got. I got the 'trash bag' bag from the show. I am so excited. How cool is this?" Kardashian wrote in an Instagram story.
On social media, netizens find the bag's hefty price tag ridiculous and have made jokes about it.
The people spending $1,800 on the Balenciaga “trash pouch” are definitely stupid and I want to meet them so I can trick them out of their money.

If I see any of my peoples with a Balenciaga trash pouch, I’m throwing them in the bin

What is Balenciaga gonna do next? Bottle up some air and sell it for $999. They’re doing too much with those trash bags 😂

This isn't the first time that the Spanish luxury fashion house released a product that's seemingly out of this world. Last May, Balenciaga launched "fully destroyed" sneakers worth P1,850.
