How Paris Jackson covered all 80 of her tattoos for the 2024 Grammy Awards

Did Paris Jackson catch your eye at the 2024 Grammy Awards?

The actress-musician looked almost unrecognizable when she showed up on the red carpet of the recently concluded awards show on Monday, Feb. 5 (Philippine time) with all 80 of her tattoos hidden. She opted for a strapless Celine gown, which she matched with muted makeup.

Paris talked about her Grammys look in an interview with The Zoe Report. "It just felt ‘Grammys’ to me because it's also a little edgy. Celine is great at capturing both of those energies. The dress was so clean and sleek on its own, I thought covering my tattoos would let the dress stand out and create a minimal and chic vibe," she explained.

While she loves her ink, she noted how fun it is "to mix it up once in a while if the occasion or look calls for it." She said, "The great part about makeup in general is its versatility, so l love that I was able to use makeup to switch things up, but not permanently."

This is not the first time that the 25-year-old model is seen without her tattoos. In 2018, she managed to cover them all up on the set of a photo shoot in Los Angeles as she wore a red velvet dress, black combat boots, and round sunglasses.

Tyson Fountaine, Paris' makeup artist, revealed that he used Cover FX's complexion products—particularly the Total Cover Cream Foundation, which is known for its "high coverage and high performance."

"This brand is an expert in both clean beauty and the base layer, which is highly valued in Paris," Tyson told TZR.

Paris shared a timelapse video of the process in an Instagram video, saying that she knew that the brand "meant business" when it said their product "would have [her] covered."

Tyson applied Gripping Primer on Paris' skin to ensure a smooth foundation application and then some Power Play Liquid Foundation, followed by the Total Cover Cream Foundation for maximum coverage. He then added a layer of powder foundation and pressed mineral foundation, and finished it off with a High-Performance Setting Spray to make sure that it would last the entire night.

Where to get the Total Cover Cream Foundation and similar products

The Total Cover Cream Foundation is a full-coverage foundation that is suitable for any skin tone and "blends to conceal darkness and redness with a natural-looking, skin-like finish." It's being offered on Cover FX's website for $44 or P2,475.73, though shipment to the Philippines is not available at the moment. You can, however, score this item via Ubuy Philippines for P3,463.

There are also similar items in the country that can cover your tattoos, dark circles, and blemishes such as Dermacol's "high-covering foundation," which comes with light to medium beige shades for P1,350.

Mau Piodena, a hair and makeup artist who has worked his brilliance on models in Fashion Week shows in Milan and Paris, told PhilSTAR L!fe that long-wearing and build-ability concealers and foundation are a must when it comes to covering tattoos.

"For coverage na tattoo block, mas konting nilagay na concealer and foundation, the better kasi mas matagal maubos and less cakey," he said.
