A Filipino timepiece named Savior is saving the lives of animals

There is something poetic about a watch brand named “Savior.” In a world obsessed with status symbols and loud luxury, here comes a Filipino-made timepiece brand that quietly asks a more meaningful question: What if style could actually stand for something?

Officially launched in April of this year, Savior.philippines was founded by Jason Rejas and Carlo Jose Mercado, two watch enthusiasts whose fascination with timepieces began long before they created a brand of their own.

The two founders shared that they spent years watching content from watch creators such as Gentry Timepieces, Pareng Hayb, and Pareng G, becoming deeply interested not only in the aesthetics of watches, but also in the history, engineering, and stories behind every luxury timepiece.

“That inspiration led us to create our own brand and story, not centered around luxury alone, but around compassion and purpose,” the founders explained. “We wanted Savior.philippines to become more than just a watch brand. Our vision is to build a Filipino brand that represents meaningful storytelling, community, and advocacy, especially for animal welfare.”

The Aurelia model of Savior is finished in rose gold tones, reflects warmth and quiet luxury.

That balance between style and substance is what makes the brand stand out. The watches themselves are sleek, modern, and wearable, but behind the polished cases and dials is a deeper mission.

Jason explained that the name “Savior” was intentionally chosen to represent hope, responsibility, and purpose. “We wanted the brand to stand for more than just products, but also for impact and advocacy,” he shared. “The name reflects our vision of using the brand as a platform to help others, especially through animal welfare initiatives, which is our main focus today.”

He added that while the current focus remains on helping animals, the long-term vision is even bigger. “As the brand continues to grow, we also hope to expand our advocacy beyond helping animals, including supporting nature, environmental causes, and even human lives in the future. But for now, our mission is centered on supporting and helping animals through the platform we are building with Savior.philippines.”

For women, Savior created Hera, for those who appreciate understated elegance, featuring graceful proportions and a smaller refined silhouette.

Unlike brands that merely attach themselves to causes for optics, Savior appears deeply involved in actual community initiatives. Animal welfare, both founders explained, is something deeply personal to them.

“Through Savior, we aim to support animal rescue efforts, feeding programs, and awareness initiatives for stray and neglected animals,” they shared. “Yes, a portion of our sales and selected campaigns are allocated toward supporting these advocacies and community-driven projects.”

Jason also spoke about the specific efforts the brand has already participated in, including feeding drives, rescue support initiatives, donation campaigns, and collaborations that help provide supplies and assistance for rescued animals and shelters. “We continue to support independent rescuers and local animal welfare initiatives whenever possible through community-engagement activities,” he said.

The watches themselves each carry distinct personalities and inspirations.

Carlo Jose Mercado, co-founder of Savior.philippines, is deeply interested in the history of watches.

Genesis, the brand’s first mechanical timepiece, symbolizes beginnings and sustainability through automatic movement that requires no battery. Caliber draws inspiration from chronograph-style watches, featuring dual sub-dials and a thicker compact casing that gives it a bold presence. Orion channels timeless sophistication with a commanding aesthetic inspired by classic luxury timepieces and the celestial constellation itself.

For women, Hera was created for those who appreciate understated elegance, featuring graceful proportions and a smaller refined silhouette. Aurelia, finished in rose gold tones, reflects warmth and quiet luxury, while Radiance features diamond-like stones inspired by brilliance and light.

The founders personally oversee the creative process, from brainstorming and sketches to material selection, prototypes, revisions, and quality checking before final production. While they openly acknowledge inspirations from internationally recognized luxury watch brands, they emphasize creating their own interpretation and identity rather than simply replicating existing styles.

Their audience refreshingly consists largely of young professionals, creatives, entrepreneurs, students, and consumers who appreciate design paired with meaning. Their price range is quite accessible as well. And perhaps that is exactly why the brand resonates. Today’s consumers increasingly want purchases that reflect not only taste, but values.

Maybe that is what makes Savior interesting. Not simply that it creates stylish Filipino-made watches, but that it understands something many modern brands still struggle to grasp: people remember stories. They remember sincerity. And sometimes, they remember the brands that try to do a little good while time is ticking.
