The winner of the 69th Miss Universe, Mexico’s Andrea Meza, is set to receive an exciting array of prizes and perks. Of course, the biggest one is besting 73 other pageant contestants and wearing the Miss Universe crown.

Meza will get to wear the Miss Universe Power of Unity Crown by Mouawad Jewelry.

Reported to be worth around US$5 million (over P287 million), the Mouawad Miss Universe crown is said to be the most expensive crown in the pageant’s history.

The jeweler described the crown as such: “The Mouawad Miss Universe Power of Unity Crown is a unique, bespoke work of extraordinary craftsmanship that carries with it a powerful message to the world.”

According to its press release, the Mouawad Miss Universe crown has 1,725 white diamonds and three golden canary diamonds “set in harmonious interplays of petals, leaves and vines.”

The crown’s centerpiece is a modified mixed cut golden canary diamond which Mouawad said weighs over 62 carats.

This is only the second time the Mouawad will be used to crown a Miss Universe winner. It was Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa who first wore the crown when she won in 2019; the Mouawad crown replaced the Mikimoto crown, which was used in 2017 and 2018.

Take note: the winner only gets to use the crown during her reign, and only during special occasions. The crowns aren’t won by the winners; they are only on loan and are passed on to the next winner the following year.
