Vickie Rushton shared her disappointment over not being able to join this year’s Binibining Pilipinas pageant, which will be held next month.

During a press conference on Friday, June 11, to announce the pageant’s preliminary activities, the Binibining Pilipinas confirmed that Vickie is no longer part of the pageant’s roster of contestants due to age restriction.

Following the press conference, Vickie took to her Instagram account to share that she now needs to “close this chapter of my life,” even though she isn’t ready.

“As much as I don’t want to, I need to close this chapter in my life. I thought I was okay but today I realized that I might not be as ok as i thought I was. It finally sunk in that I am no longer part of it,” she said.

Vickie added: “Today, I found myself crying because I am still not ready to let go of this dream but I know I have to and I know God has better plans.”

The 29-year-old beauty queen ended by saying that she did not imagine “her journey” to end the way it did, “maybe it’s time to dream a new dream.”

Beauty queens such as Miss Universe Philippines Rabiya Mateo expressed their support for Vickie. “Virtual hugs. You are a queen to us!” Rabiya commented on her Instagram post.

“I love you and you will be my queen,” Miss Grand Philippines 2020 Samantha Bernardo said.

Vickie was one of the heavy favorites to win the Binibining Pilipinas 2020 pageant. However, the pageant would postponed due to the COVID-19 pageant. She also joined the 2018 edition of the pageant, where she was named first runner-up. She joined again in 2019, where she landed in the Top 15.

In 2011, she won the Mutya ng Pilipinas pageant.

Aside from Vickie, five other contestants in the 2020 Binibining Pilipinas pageant withdrew from the competition.
