Rabiya Mateo is ready to start a new chapter as an actress right after she crowns her successor at the Miss Universe Philippines 2021 pageant.

In an interview with Miss Universe Indonesia 2020 Ayu Maulida, Mateo revealed that she will be signing with “a TV network in the Philippines” after wrapping up her beauty queen journey.

“I’m also excited to turn over my crown on Sept. 25 because I will be signing with a TV network here in the Philippines. And I might start doing acting,” she said. She didn’t reveal, however, which TV network she’ll sign a contract with.

Mateo admitted that she’s “excited” to see herself as an actress after being a beauty queen.

“It’s a different chapter. Me being a beauty queen is about to end, but we’re about to open a different one and this is Rabiya as an actress. I’m excited about it,” she added.

The beauty queen also shared that she’s prepared to start anew as an actress.

“I know it’s not going to be easy. I need to do some workshops to improve my acting skills, but I am up for it. If I was able to do Miss Universe back, then I can do this also,” Mateo said.

When asked if Mateo will compete in beauty pageants after her Miss Universe Philippines reign, she admitted that she just wants to “rest for now.”

“A lot of people have been pushing me to join a different (pageant) but for now, I just wanna rest my body and my mind because Miss Universe is no joke. I just want to rest for now,” the beauty queen added.

Even so, Mateo said she’s not “closing any doors” on competing in another pageant in the future.

“I am not closing any door as of the moment because we’ll never know. Give it two to three years, I might have a different answer, so let’s just see,” she said.

The beauty queen represented the Philippines at the Miss Universe 2020 pageant and finished as a Top 21 semifinalist.

Mateo is set to crown her successor at the Miss Universe Philippines 2021 coronation night on Sept. 25.
