Carlo Orosa reveals the secret to being strong and youthful at 60
We know we cannot stop aging, yet some people appear to defy the conventional markers of time, maintaining a youthful vigor and appearance well into their 60s.
This phenomenon doesn’t rely solely on good genes, but rather a complex interplay of lifestyle choices, mental outlook, and even environmental factors.
One of the most significant contributors to a youthful appearance at 60 is a commitment to a healthy lifestyle. Regular physical activity, encompassing both cardiovascular exercise and strength training, helps maintain muscle tone, improve circulation, and promote a healthy glow.

Furthermore, a balanced diet rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, with an emphasis on whole foods and limited processed items, nourishes the body from within, supporting skin elasticity and cell regeneration.
Adequate hydration is also crucial, as it keeps the skin supple and prevents the appearance of fine lines.
Beyond diet and exercise, sufficient sleep plays a vital role in cellular repair and regeneration, allowing the body to rejuvenate and preventing the tell-tale signs of fatigue.
Beyond the physical, a positive mental and emotional state profoundly impacts how one ages. Individuals who maintain a sense of purpose, engage in stimulating activities, and nurture strong social connections often exude a vibrant energy that belies their chronological age.
Chronic stress, on the other hand, can accelerate the aging process, leading to premature wrinkles and a tired appearance
Cultivating optimism, practicing mindfulness, and engaging in hobbies that bring joy can significantly contribute to a youthful demeanor.
A curious mind, open to learning new things and adapting to change, also keeps the brain active and engaged, which can translate into a more youthful overall presence.

Finally, certain external factors and conscious choices contribute to maintaining a youthful look. Protecting the skin from sun damage through the consistent use of sunscreen is paramount, as UV radiation is a primary cause of premature aging.
Avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol consumption also prevents damage to skin cells and blood vessels. Additionally, access to good healthcare and addressing any health issues proactively can prevent chronic conditions from taking a visible toll.
In essence, looking young at 60 is not about halting the aging process, but rather about optimizing one’s physical and mental well-being to express vitality. It is a testament to the power of self-care, a positive mindset, and a continuous engagement with life that allows individuals to age with grace, energy, and an enduring youthful spirit.
We asked Carlo Orosa, singer, actor, and talent manager, who turned 60 this year how he maintains his youthful looks. The celebrated musical theater actor and recording artist takes the stage again this July as the magnificent Pharaoh of the Trumpets’ production Joseph The Dreamer. Directed by Paolo Valenciano, the inspiring show that has sold out theaters is on a limited run at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium of the RCBC Plaza in Makati.

“This year, 2025, I turned 60—and people often compliment me on how I look. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been told I look young for my age.
“Is it genetic? A positive mindset? Maybe both. But I often ask myself: What’s the most consistent habit that’s helped me age the way I have?
“If I had to point to one thing, I’d say this: exercise—and lots of it.
“Since I was a teenager, I’ve made physical activity a regular part of my life. I work out three to four times a week, and over the decades, I’ve only taken short breaks—maybe two to three times for a few months—but never a full year without lifting or training.
“The gym and their excellent trainers have been key partners in keeping me fit and trim, even during the pandemic.
“Performing as an actor and singer also built up my stamina and breathing. Being on stage—running in and out, changing costumes, hitting cues—is physically demanding. It’s like doing a full aerobic routine every night.
“Since 2003, I’ve also incorporated non-invasive treatments once a year—from Thermage, Sofwave, and HIFU to Genius RF, EmFace, and others. These have helped maintain my skin’s tone and tightness.
“Because of this active lifestyle, I’ve been able to enjoy all kinds of food. I often say: I work out so I can eat well! Of course, everything in moderation.
“Lastly—and just as important—I believe in keeping a balanced spiritual life. Stress ages you. Prayer and staying connected with close friends keep me grounded, engaged, and mentally centered.”
