‘I know someone is there to back me up all the time’: Nadine Lustre talks about her profound bond with James Reid

It’s been over a year since Nadine Lustre confirmed her breakup with James Reid. But to this day, it seems that their connection has remained as profound as ever.

In an interview with CNN Philippines, the singer said that he has always stood by her side. “James has always been very supportive when it comes to all my endeavors, all of the stuff that I do, which is good because at least I know that someone is there to back me up all the time,” she said.

In fact, it was James—the head of her current label Careless Music—who has been “pushing me when it comes to putting out more music” for her upcoming solo concert dubbed Absolute Madness. “It’s actually their idea to do the concert. It’s funny kasi nagulat nalang ako, pagdating ko ng office one time, biglang sinabi sa akin, ‘You’re doing a concert,’” the actress recalled with a laugh.

While she remained tight-lipped about her guests, she expressed her excitement over her virtual performances. “It is very exciting because it revolves around Wildest Dreams, because it’s my baby and it’s something that I’m proud of,” she said. “It’s a new concept. It’s a merge of theater and concert at the same time so it’s very exciting.”

What can viewers expect from the highly-anticipated affair? “It’s something that’s kind of like from a storybook so you don’t see that all the time in concert scenes, but at least people will get to see a bit of my acting, a bit of my actress side again. Just a little bit but more of the music pa rin, of course,” she teased.

“Pretty much this is a journey of self-discovery. I guess you can say it is my journey, it is yours, it is everyone’s,” she continued. “Somehow, I know people could relate when they see Absolute Madness.”

Absolute Madness will be out on Saturday, July 3 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available at KUMU Live, where the virtual concert will also be streamed.
