This year, Ghost Month starts on Aug. 13 and ends on Sept. 10.
In an interview with PhilSTAR L!fe, feng shui expert Johnson Chua said that historically, Ghost Month was connected to the "Hungry Ghost Month," when hungry ghosts or punished spirits are believed to come out of the "gates of hell" to roam the living world. It's why this month is often associated with bad spirits and negative energy.
