Take it from the boss: How the women of the Globe Group lead and inspire

Published Apr 05, 2024 12:15 pm

In celebration of Women’s Month, the Globe Group is shining a spotlight on a new set of women leaders this year. The growing digital solutions platform is currently dominated by female executives who continuously pave the way for exciting tech innovations.

These passionate and strong women set aside time in their busy schedules to impart their personal mantras, wisdom in overcoming challenges, and how they want to inspire other women to break boundaries, in their own words.

Beia Latay
CEO, KonsultaMD

Philosophy at work

“I really believe in work-life integration, of which the key part is making sure your personal values and direction are aligned with your work’s values and direction.

I don’t like the idea of wasting my time and effort on something I don’t even like or believe in. I wouldn’t be myself at work, and that would be exhausting! As long as you believe in what you’re doing and you are your true self at work, you’re good.”

Overcoming challenges

KonsultaMD is currently associated as a teleconsultation service or a marketplace model. But the reality is, there’s a lot of nuance.

I want people to think of KonsultaMD as their companion when they have to make informed decisions about themselves and their families. Think of us as your partner in your healthcare journey. The healthcare experience is so painful right now and sometimes, you just need someone to guide you through it in a very informed way. My vision is to make sure KonsultaMD is the platform of choice both from the patient’s perspective and also from the perspective of our providers.

It’s a challenge because it’s almost like a business model change, and we’re thinking of ways on how to communicate where we want to go.

There is no clear path yet on how we will get there, but I think we’re on the right track as we try to explore different partnerships. We’ll overcome the challenges as long as we understand and align with the vision, and that we’re able to be collaborative, bringing in as many partners to that journey as we can.

Inspiring other women

Globe Group is a great place that gives you a lot of flexibility to be yourself and you will find that you’ll still be very successful in your own skin. I want women to be inspired in nurturing their dreams and ambitions. Take care of your dream. Nurture it. You also have to be confident so you can start talking about your dreams with other people. Honestly, you’ll be so surprised at how others can be so supportive. But you have to be very clear and sincere about what you want.

Philosophy at work

Passion fuels everything I do. As cliche as this is, when you love what you do, it's not just a job – it's a calling. That drive and enthusiasm are what propel me forward, even on the toughest days.

I believe in going above and beyond. It's about striving for excellence in everything I do. That extra effort and attention to detail make all the difference in achieving success.

Lastly, being genuinely a people person is crucial. I've learned so much from the incredible individuals I've had the privilege to work with. Building strong relationships, listening actively, being kind and embracing diverse perspectives enrich both my professional journey and personal growth.

Overcoming challenges

Being a leader isn't always smooth sailing. Sometimes we even have to make unpopular decisions for the good of the organization. But by embracing resilience, a positive outlook, and a forward-thinking mindset, overcoming these challenges becomes feasible..

With grit, determination, and teamwork, no mountain is too high for us to climb. And that's what makes the journey exhilarating.

Inspiring other women

I've been part of the Globe Group for 14 years and looking back, we were once a struggling start up in our field. When I reflect on my humble beginnings with the group, I’m reminded of the importance of strategic planning, hard work, and resilience. I am also grateful to have worked and still am working with a passionate team.

This progression highlights the significance of having a clear objective, laying a solid foundation, and actively seeking growth opportunities.

Ultimately, no dream is too big and no goal is out of reach. With determination and perseverance, even the loftiest aspirations can be turned into reality.

Philosophy at work

I believe happy employees are the most productive employees so I make sure to take care of myself in order to bring my best self to work. A notion I want to disabuse people of is that one must be stressed out all the time, lack sleep, spend tons of hours in the office, and sacrifice time with family and loved ones just to excel in their careers. I think this is not only counterproductive, but also not sustainable. We all have different approaches to accomplishing our work. I make sure I’m flexible enough to cater to these different working styles within our team, to ensure everyone brings their best selves to work as well.

Overcoming challenges

I try to take a step back and look at the big picture. It may seem insurmountable today but taking a few steps at a time and chipping away at the problem slowly but surely always does the trick. It also helps to seek advice from people you trust—from my manager at work, my husband at home, and a handful of trusted friends and colleagues—to view the problem from different perspectives and to come up with a creative solution or way forward.

Inspiring other women

It’s been an incredible journey for me so far. My past five years at Globe have been a period of immense growth and transformation thanks to the people who believed in me and put their trust in my abilities.

I want other women to know that they’re not alone in their professional journeys and that anything is possible. I’ve shifted areas of practice multiple times since the beginning of my professional career, from litigation to public policy and now data privacy and GRC. There’s no single path towards achieving your goals. You just need to persevere and carry on. An environment where you feel seen, supported, and appreciated makes a huge difference, too. I’m happy to say this is exactly what we have at Globe. And women can spark positive change and promote the same uplifting culture by supporting other women in their respective fields, too.
