Jennylyn Mercado and Dennis Trillo are getting married—they're having a baby, too!
Jennylyn Mercado and Dennis Trillo are getting married and are expecting their first baby together!
Indeed, love is sweeter the second time around. The Kapuso stars shared the news on GMA 7's 24 Oras with a tell-all interview, saying: "We're getting married!"
"Gusto ko hindi naman masyadong magarbo," Trillo said when asked how he proposed. "Ginawa ko yung pinaka simple at the same time, heartfelt."
Mercado said she had no idea at all because she rarely goes down to the first floor of their house. That day of the proposal, the actor asked his then girlfriend if she could go down so they could shoot a video message for their future selves.
The proposal happened at their home. Trillo proposed there because there were so many "factors" that needed to be considered. One of which was the pandemic, and the second is Mercado's condition, which at first they didn't reveal what it is.
Reporter Nelson Canlas asked, "Wait, Jen, are you pregnant?"
"Positive ako," she replied.
"Sa tamang oras, sa tamang pagkakataon na ready ka na siguro, saka sya ibibigay sayo," she added.
Shortly after their announcement on television, the pair released their proposal video on their YouTube channel.
In the video, Trillo shared a heartwarming speech to Mercado.
He said: "Narating din natin, step-by-step, dahan-dahan.
Trillo also thanked Mercado for coming to his life again and for loving him wholeheartedly.
"Ikaw lang ang gusto kong makasama. Ikaw at yung bagong addition sa pamilya natin. Isa yun sa mga pangarap ko. Matutupad lang yung mga pangarap na yun kung papayag kang pakasalan ako," he said before asking "Will you marry me? Pakakasalan mo ba ako?"
Trillo and Mercado both have sons from their previous relationships. The On The Job star has a son named Calix with his ex-girlfriend, beauty queen Carlene Aguilar, while Mercado has a 13-year-old son named Alex Jazz with Patrick Garcia.
They first became a pair in 2010, but separated shortly after their first anniversary. The break-up, which was caused by a petty argument that led to a physical fight, was highly publicized in the media.
After they broke up, they both got into relationships with fellow actors Luis Manzano and Bianca King. However, those relationships did not last long.
Five years after their split, Mercado and Trillo got the chance to work together on a drama, My Faithful Husband, where they were able to rekindle their relationship. The couple gave their relationship a second shot and are now 7 years strong and counting.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
