This dating app is arranging a dating experience that’s literally out of this world

Luxury dating app Lusso is making the search for “the one” an out-of-this-world experience… literally.

The dating app, which boasts ultra-exclusivity with its VIP members, is looking for individuals who will match in the app to be the “first couple” to ever arrange a date in space.

“Lusso Dating’s challenge for 2021/2022 is to connect two like-minded individuals who are willing to go into space and have the financial power to back it up,” said Lusso Dating.

Since the date in space would probably cost sky-high amounts, the company said, “It’s probably advisable to split the bill on this one!”

The app, which claims to connect “the most successful singles on earth,” gives its members the option to select “Space tourism” as their profile interest. And once they match with someone who shares the same sense of adventure (and maybe the same number of bank accounts), Lusso will arrange their first date in space.

The dating app did not say how much the cost of this date in space would be, but recently, Virgin Galactic started looking to send travelers to space on the first commercial vehicle for spaceflight; the program costs up to $250,000 (P11.9 million).

A date at the International Space Station is an out-of-this-world experience... literally.

Meanwhile, the Orbital Assembly Corporation is opening the first ever space hotel in 2027, and as early as now, the hotel is taking reservations. A three-day stay will reportedly cost about $5 million (P238.7 million).

Lusso brands itself as the “most exclusive” and the “most expensive” dating site in the world. It is available internationally but only members with VIP membership (they pay about $1,000 or P47,000) can exchange messages.

The paid membership of the app also has a limited number of accounts per country and gender. For example, in the United States, there are only 3,000 accounts, while Australia, Canada, France and Germany only have 600 each. (Currently, the app is not available in the Philippines.)

This, Lusso says, ensures its members to be highly engaged with some of the “most successful singles in the world.”

Lusso may be arranging the “first date” for singles but it was in 1992 when NASA astronauts Mark Lee and Jan Davis became the first (and the last) married couple to fly on the same mission in space. They flew aboard space shuttle Endeavor.
