Sarah Geronimo reveals Matteo Guidicelli proposed to her twice
Matteo Guidicelli proposed to Sarah Geronimo not once, but twice.
The 32-year-old singer revealed this in Dr. Vicki Belo’s YouTube vlog on Thursday, Dec. 17.
Matteo first popped the question in Italy where, Sarah said, “kami lang po nakakaalam, saka family niya.”
The second proposal happened in Matteo’s hometown in Cebu.
“And then, the second time [was] with his relatives… Cebu. Parang paalam lang sa kanila,” she added.
The Kapamilya singer-actress did not give further details on these two events, but netizens suspected that their first engagement took place in September 2018, when photos of the couple’s vacation in Italy leaked online. At that time, Sarah and Matteo were celebrating their fifth anniversary. They were photographed visiting one of Matteo’s relatives.
In his interview with ABS-CBN writer G3 Sandiego earlier in August this year, Matteo admitted giving his wife two engagement rings prior to their wedding.
“That first ring, I’m proud of it, I’m very proud that it was… my grandmother’s ring. I’m very proud na [that] it did not need readjusting or anything,” Matteo said.
Meanwhile, the second ring was made by his brother-in-law who is a jeweler.
The 30-year-old actor-entrepreneur announced his engagement to Sarah on Instagram on Nov. 7, 2019. They got married on Feb. 20, 2020, in a secret wedding where Sarah’s parents were allegedly not invited.
Although things remain testy between the newlyweds and Sarah's parents, Matteo still considers it “the best day” of his life.
“At the end of the day, it was a beautiful day of two people, synergizing together as one. That was one of the best days of my life. It wasn't perfect, but I consider it the best day of my life,” he said in a YouTube video with actress Toni Gonzaga on Dec. 1 this year.
The couple has been mum about the situation between Sarah and her parents to this day, but the actor still has his hopes up about reconciling with them “in God’s time.”
