Self-care ideas for those who don’t believe in it
When we think of self-care, we often imagine trips to the spa and treating ourselves to material things. However, not everyone subscribes to that idea.
It’s true that taking care of yourself doesn’t just involve getting massages and makeovers. It’s supposed to cover everything from your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. So, if you’re consciously skipping self-care days because you’re busy or you’re skeptical, we’d like to remind you that it can positively affect your mood and productivity, among other things, in the long run.
Self-care doesn’t have to be extravagant. Sometimes it can be as simple as doing one of these:
Keeping yourself hydrated
You’re actually keeping yourself healthy when you drink at least eight glasses of water per day. (This is also a reminder not to drink iced coffee when you’re thirsty.)
Taking midday naps
Sure, naps can make you feel like you’re in a different dimension every time you wake up. But naps can increase your alertness and help you feel more recharged. This is why taking power naps before starting a task is recommended.
Log out
This is easier said than done since people now depend on the internet and social media for a lot of things. Choosing to disconnect for a bit, even for a couple of hours, can help you focus on your tasks and lessen your stress over deadlines.
Do nothing
Seriously, being idle and not worrying about productivity is a form of self-care. Think of it as a form of meditation where you regain your balance and avoid any type of burnout. Try it sometimes.
