A virtual hearing in Texas, USA welcomed an unexpected guest when an attorney joined the Zoom meeting as a filter-generated cat.

During a virtual court proceeding on Tuesday, Feb. 9, Presidio County Attorney Rod Ponton logged on to the meeting unaware that his face had turned into a blue-eyed kitten.

In the video shared by 394th District Court of Texas on YouTube, Judge Roy Ferguson alerted Ponton saying, "Mr Ponton, I believe you have filter turned on in the video settings." As Ponton and his assistant struggled to fix the settings, he said he was ready to proceed.

"I'm prepared to go forward with it. I'm here live, I'm not a cat," Ponton said.

"I can see that," said the judge.

As the video went viral on social media, Judge Ferguson warned the public to "check the Zoom Video Options to be sure filters are off" before joining a virtual meeting.

While those who are in the virtual court hearing are reminded not to record any part of the video, this cute and funny mishap was given an exemption and was published "for educational purposes." Judge Ferguson said this video is "not be used to mock the lawyers, but instead to exemplify the legal community's dedication to the cause of justice."

"These fun moments are a by-product of the legal profession's dedication to ensuring that the justice system continues to function in these tough times. Everyone involved handled it with dignity, and the filtered lawyer showed incredible grace. True professionalism all around," he added.
