Pornhub will prohibit uploads from unverified users and will be banning downloads as well, the free porn site said.

Following the criticisms and allegations of hosting illegal videos—most of which include non-consensual videos involving minors—in New York Times article, Pornhub released an updated community guidelines.

"At Pornhub, nothing is more important than the safety of our community. Our core values such as inclusivity, freedom of expression and privacy are only possible when our platform is trusted by our users," they wrote in a statement.

They also said that any online platform such as theirs has the "moral responsibility" to help prevent abuse and illegal content. "It requires collective action and constant vigilance," Pornhub said. Thus, they are taking major steps to protect their users.

Effective immediately, those who are in the Model Program will be the only ones to upload content. Come next year, they will provide a new verification process that will allow users to upload content once verified.

With regards to exporting of videos, unless you are paying for a download in the verified Model Program, you cannot extract videos from the site anymore.

Pornhub will also be taking their security and screening further. Right now, they have banned a list of keywords including "child," "daddy sister," "little kid," "pre-teen," "teenybopper," and will continue to "identify" more keywords regularly. Furthermore, they have established a group that is dedicated "to self-auditing the platform for potentially illegal material."

"The Red Team provides an extra layer of protection on top of the existing protocol, proactively sweeping content already uploaded for potential violations and identifying any breakdowns in the moderation process that could allow a piece of content that violates the Terms of Service."
