Bigger and better: G Fair returns with a grander celebration of Filipino craftsmanship

By MAAN D'ASIS PAMARAN Published Oct 10, 2024 3:00 pm

The resounding success of the first G Fair by Globe Business in 2023 led to this year’s bigger edition, with 29 MSMEs selling their proudly Filipino wares at the Bonifacio Global City Amphitheater.

This vibrant pop-up market, part of Globe’s month-long G DAY celebration, provides a dynamic platform for entrepreneurs to forge meaningful connections with consumers. It has grown substantially, both in the number of exhibitors and in their total sales for the two-day event.

Love for local

This year’s participants included a curated selection of handcrafted fashion and accessories by Baybayin Bags, Habi Lifestyle, Sewn Sandals, X Label Store, HOF Plus, Trinkets, Yana’s Woven Textile, Veroni Star, MyMantra Jewelry, Love and Luna, and Gratia Manila.

Coffee brews and concoctions from H Proper, Rustique Corners Coffee, 1C Coffee, and SSPACE, complemented baked goods from Batter & Bake, Baked by Morena, and W Bakehouse. For those wanting to cool down from the metro heat, Araro Gelato offered products made with rich, creamy carabao’s milk. G Fair also presented a visual feast, with Art for Space, Rojo Gallery, Art Toys PH, Very Good Gallery, and Mocaf Discoveries highlighting local artists.

Quality wellness and beauty products were present via Arete Lifestyle, Russ & Rose, and MAGWAI. Lumi Candles, a participant from last year’s G Fair, is now a part of the Globe Rewards list found in the GlobeOne app. Participating MSMEs shared their stories through an information card in their booths highlighting what their business is about, as well as the advocacies they support.

This year, 9.17% of sales from G Fair’s 917 booth went to the Hapag Movement, a Globe-led campaign that aims to alleviate hunger among 100,000 Filipino families through supplemental feeding and sustainable livelihood training. Registered shoppers also had the opportunity to win major prizes, such as round-trip tickets to Seattle via Philippine Airlines and Samsung gadgets.

Wider reach

“The inspiration for G Fair is our millions of MSMEs, artists and the many unique products that they create. We hope to create more avenues for better market access and address challenges on how other Filipinos can discover them. We want to serve as a platform to showcase Filipino products and entrepreneurs,” said Globe Business Customer Lifecycle Management Head Armelie Go-Patalud.

As part of the support from Globe Business, the participants got their booths for free. Globe Business also provided free promotions through features on their SMS blast and social media platforms that reached millions of Globe subscribers, helping them connect to a bigger market.

Go-Patalud said their support for MSMEs goes beyond the bazaar, as G Fair also featured a Globe Business Hub where entrepreneurs got to take their first step towards digitalization. “Connectivity is at the core of what we do, and through the Hub, we are promoting connectivity and solutions that are accessible and affordable for businesses.”

Globe Business offers year-round support for MSMEs including participation in bazaars, webinars, and on-ground events. These events feature industry experts who coach entrepreneurs on topics such as cybersecurity, social media presence, and website creation.

Go-Patalud said the MSMEs are central to G Fair’s mission of supporting our local communities. “Our theme for this year is ‘for Filipinos, made by Filipinos’, anchoring on the learning na sobrang ganda ng gawang Pinoy. We want more consumers to appreciate the greatness of Filipino craftsmanship, talent, and artistry.”

Speaking at the G Fair opening, KD Dizon, Head of Globe Business, said, “We believe that with the right tools, local businesses and artists can transform lives, uplift communities, and contribute significantly to the progress of our nation. Beyond the products, we celebrate the remarkable spirit of our entrepreneurs, some of the most passionate individuals, who have transformed their interests into thriving businesses. These are stories of transformation whose ideas become businesses, and whose successes become the lifeblood of communities.”

This bigger and better G Fair was also made possible by Globe Business in partnership with its sponsors, Samsung, Philippine Airlines and NutriAsia.
