Chinese influencer Jiang Xiaorou, who became known for her paranormal exploration and anti-superstition content, has died at 24.

The Sun reported that the social media personality died on Aug. 10 after being in a car accident.

The influencer was traveling from Guangxi to Guangzhou when the ride-share vehicle she was in was involved in the accident. A report from Hong Kong–based news outlet HK01 said that she suffered severe injuries, including brain and multiple-organ injuries, and was placed in intensive care.

Her family asked the public to respect their privacy and refrain from making speculations surrounding her death.

Jiang was known online for exploring abandoned places, investigating paranormal phenomena, and creating videos that challenged superstitious beliefs. Her content had earned her 1.2 million followers on Douyin.

Jiang drew controversy in August 2025 after posting a video in which she smashed a Guanyin statue, a Buddhist figure associated with compassion and mercy, as part of an anti-superstition challenge. In the video, she challenged viewers to see whether anything would happen to her after destroying the statue. The stunt drew backlash online, with some viewers calling it disrespectful.

Jiang's last content before her death focused on paranormal themes, including a video in which she called mysterious phone numbers suggested by her followers.
