Weight loss influencer Mila De Jesus dies at 35
Weight loss influencer Mila De Jesus has passed away. She was 35 years old.
Her daughter, Anna Clara, confirmed Mila's death through the latter's Instagram page on Tuesday, Jan. 16.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mila de Jesus this Friday,” the text in the monochrome photo of Mila read, according to a translation from PEOPLE Magazine. “In this moment of pain, respect family and friends and we will express our respect to Mila who will miss her a lot.”
“I, Anna Clara, am posting this condolence note,” Anna Clara said in the post. “We are very sad to hear of the passing of our beautiful mother. We appreciate all the prayers and condolences. Continue to pray for us. Thank you.”
The cause of Mila's death wasn’t revealed.
Mila rose to fame on social media in 2017 after posting a photo of herself before and after her bariatric surgery, which involves gastric bypass and other changes to one’s digestive system as diet and exercise don’t work anymore, according to Mayo Clinic. She continued sharing her weight loss journey with her followers online.
Aside from fitness, Mila also had a YouTube channel where she shared makeup tutorials with over 103,000 subscribers.
In October 2023, she shared that she was dealing with psoriasis, a chronic disease that makes the immune system overactive and causes skin cells to multiply too quickly, according to the National Institute of Health.
Psoriasis causes patches of skin to become scaly and inflamed.
“80% of my body taken, between doctors, medicines, ointments, and breathing deeply,” she said.
Mila is survived by her four children and her husband George Kowszik, with whom she tied the knot in September last year.
