'The Cleaning Lady' actor Adan Canto dies at 42 of appendiceal cancer
Actor Adan Canto, who starred in X-Men: Days of Future Past, The Cleaning Lady, and Designated Survivor, has passed away at 42.
His representatives told entertainment outlet The Wrap that he died of appendiceal cancer.
"Adan had a depth of spirit that few truly knew. Those who glimpsed it were changed forever," UTA, Entertainment360, and Viewpoint told members of the media. "He will be greatly missed by so many."
Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment also issued a statement about how heartbroken they were about the loss.
Canto was born in Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico, and later moved to Texas. He began his acting career in 2009 and played the role of Paul Torres in the Fox series The Following in 2013. The next year, he starred as Sunspot in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
His other notable roles include Aaron Shore on Designated Survivor and Minister Lara on Narcos. The actor last starred in crime drama The Cleaning Lady as gangster Arman Morales.
"It seems lately I have had to make too many posts like this one, but I am heartbroken by the loss of Adan Canto. He was such a wonderful spirit. As an actor, his desire to do well, to be great, and then do better was truly impressive and he will be greatly missed. I am heartbroken for his wife Steph, and his two young children," Canto's Designated Survivor Kiefer Sutherland wrote on Instagram.
Appendiceal cancer is defined by the National Cancer Institute as a cancer that grows from cells that make up the appendix, a vestigial organ that's said to have little significance to the body and is often removed. This type of cancer is very rare, affecting one to two people per year.
Canto is survived by his wife and two children.
