Veteran showbiz journalist Jobert Sucaldito dies at 65
Veteran showbiz journalist and radio commentator Jobert Sucaldito has passed away at the age of 65.
The tragic news was announced on Aug. 2 through the Facebook page of his program "OOTD Jobert and Chaps Channel."
"Sa aming mga minamahal na manonood at tagasuporta, lubos po naming ipinapaalam na ang aming pinakamamahal na Nanay Jobert Sucaldito ay mapayapang pumanaw ngayong Agosto 2, 2026," the statement began.
"Maraming salamat sa inyong walang sawang pagmamahal, suporta, panalangin, at pagtangkilik sa kanya sa paglipas ng mga taon. Ang kanyang mga alaala, kabutihan, at mga naiwan niyang kwento ay mananatiling buhay sa aming mga puso."
The public was also asked to offer prayers for Sucaldito as they mourn his passing.
"Hinihiling po namin ang inyong panalangin para sa kanyang walang hanggang kapahingahan at para sa aming pamilya sa panahong ito ng matinding pagdadalamhati. Paalam, Nanay Jobert. Hanggang sa muli," the message ended.
While the cause of his death was not disclosed, it was detailed in a separate post that an "incident" occurred in Sucaldito's residence in Quezon City between 9:45 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. on Aug. 2.
"He was immediately rushed to the Philippine Heart Center, where the medical team exerted every effort to revive him. Sadly, despite their best efforts, he was pronounced deceased at around 10:30 a.m.," the post read.
"The family is still awaiting the official medical findings regarding the cause of his passing," it added, requesting everyone to respect the family's privacy during this difficult time.
The page assured that further details regarding Sucaldito's wake and funeral arrangements will be announced as soon as they become available.
Sucaldito's co-host, Chaps Manansala, meanwhile took to his own account to lament his passing.
"Hindi ko alam what am feeling now. Calls and messages are overflowing. Sorry kino-compose ko pa sarili ko. Ang sakit na sabihin na wala na po si Nanay Sucaldito Jobert," he said.
Sucaldito is known for his decades-long career in entertainment journalism, having worked in various programs such as DZMM.
Apart from this, he also worked as a talent manager and had a hand in several film productions, including Boy Golden: Shoot to Kill and Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story.
