Three generations: Buckingham Palace releases a picture of King Charles III, Prince William, Prince George
A new picture of King Charles III sitting between his heirs has been released by the Palace nearly a week after his coronation.
On social media, the Royal Family shared a photo of the King with his eldest son, Prince William, and grandson, Prince George, in the Throne Room at the Buckingham Palace. The photo was taken by Hugo Burnand, who also took the other official coronation portraits, last May 6.
King Charles is in his full regalia, wearing The Robe of Estate, The Imperial State Crown, and holding the Sovereign’s Orb and Sovereign’s Sceptre with Cross.
The image also features a smiling Prince William and Prince George, who are both in their uniforms. The Prince of Wales donned the red ceremonial dress uniform of the Welsh Guards over his navy blue Order of the Garter mantle.
The nine-year-old Prince, meanwhile, wore his Page of Honour tunic that has been decorated with gold lace trim and blue velvet cuffs.
Speaking to Hola Magazine, Burnand said that he felt it was "important" to take a picture of the three generations "with all the regalia."
"I did a lot of research in the archives of past coronations, and I didn’t see any previous pictures of the line of succession. While we have seen pictures of the Queen, Prince Charles and Prince William and Prince George, never have we seen them in the throne room with all the regalia," he said.
Another new image was released showing King Charles and Queen Camilla with their Pages of Honour and Ladies in Attendance.
In the photo beside the King and Queen were Master Ralph Tollemache, The Lord Oliver Cholmondeley, Master Nicholas Barclay, Prince George of Wales, The Marchioness of Lansdowne, Mrs Annabel Elliot, Master Freddy Parker Bowles, Master Arthur Elliot, Master Gus Lopes and Master Louis Lopes.
