Camarines Sur man admits to killing dog Killua
Outrage erupted on social media after the killing of a Golden Retriever named Killua. The hashtag #JusticeForKillua is trending as users demand accountability for the cruel act.
The suspect, Anthony Solares of Camarines Sur, admitted to doing the act in a News 5 interview, saying that he did it to protect an elderly person from a dog bite.
"Ginawa ko lang yung nararapat," he said.
He clarified that he left the scene to go to the restroom, and after he came back to the store where he left the lifeless Killua, he found him in a sack.
"Hindi ko alam sino naglagay. Pag dating ko naka sako na," he claimed.
Solares said that he bumped into a friend, who advised him to bury the dog.
Asked why he hurt Killua, Solares said it was because he had already bitten a person twice.
"Muntikan na nga yung asawa ko. na nagtitinda lang doon. Kaya kung baga, talagang wala na sa sarili 'yung aso," he said. "Lahat ng makasalubong niya parang gusto pa niyang kagatin."
In the interview, Solares acknowledged using a rock and a piece of wood to hit the dog.
"Maghihintay sana ako kung sino may ari. Natagalan pa nga 'yun eh, mga kalahating oras, ganun," Solares added.
Asked if he was mad at the owner, Solares denied it and said that he never intended to kill Killua.
"Hindi ko nga alam na sakanila yun eh," he told the news outlet.
Vina Rachelle, Killua's owner, insisted her dog was not aggressive.
"Hindi po. Mabait po yun. Kasi nga po alaga namin yun dito sa bahay. And natutulog pa nga yun sa tabi ko. And makakapag attest din po yung mga kaibigan ko, yung mga pumupunta dito sa bahay na mabait po na aso si Killua," she said in the interview.
On March 17, Facebook user Vina Rachelle said that her dog Killua had gone missing. CCTV footage revealed Killua climbing to the rooftop around 5 a.m. and jumping.
Later, a passerby claimed Killua attacked and bit her.
Vina shared on Saturday that they "found his lifeless body inside a sack."
Killua's death has since caused an uproar among social media users, who mourned his death and called for justice over the cruel act done to him.
The hashtags #JusticeForKillua and #StopAnimalCruelty are among the top trending topics on X.
