The Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway will implement the toll hike for its third and final tranche of toll rate adjustment starting on Tuesday, Sept 9.

The Northern Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Corporation, the operator of SCTEX, announced the adjusted toll fees effective next week. Those who have Class 1 vehicles will pay an additional P0.64 per kilometer, while those with Class 2 vehicles will pay an additional P1.29 per km.

An additional P1.93 per km will be implemented for Class 3 vehicles.

In the new toll rates, those traveling from Mabalacat City (Mabiga Interchange) to Tarlac will pay an additional P25 for Class 1 vehicles, P51 for Class 2, and an additional P75 for Class 3 vehicles.

Meanwhile, motorists traveling between Mabalacat City (Mabiga Interchange) and Tipo, Hermosa, Bataan (near Subic Freeport) will be charged an additional P40 for Class 1, P80 for Class 2, and P121 for Class 3.

Those travelling the full length of SCTEX Tipo to Tarlac will pay an additional P66 for Class 1, P131 for Class 2, and P197 for Class 3 vehicles.

The toll hike, approved by the Toll Regulatory Board, is part of the 2020/2022 petition for periodic adjustments for SCTEX originally due in 2021 and 2023.

NLEX added after the toll hikes, they were able to finish the New Clark City Interchange, which now serves as an alternate route for motorists traveling to Capas, Bamban, and New Clark City.

It added that they have also upgraded RFID and toll systems, including the conversion to Neology antennas and stickers, as well as installing more CCTV cameras and speed monitoring systems.

"As part of ongoing sustainability initiatives, rainwater collection systems were constructed at the Floridablanca and Dinalupihan rest bays to supply water to public restrooms. Moreover, additional green initiatives are in the pipeline, including solar-powered lights integrated with wind turbines, which aim to illuminate the SCTEX network-creating brighter, more sustainable roads," the toll company said.
