Attention, aspiring lawyers: Application for 2025 Bar Exams begin on Jan. 8
Applications for the 2025 Bar examinations will open on Jan. 8, the Supreme Court announced.
In a post on X, the high court reminded aspirants that the Bar Applicant Registration Information System and Tech Assistance (BARISTA) will be accessible beginning Wednesday.
"Applications for the 2025 Bar Examinations will commence [on Jan. 8, 2025]. BARISTA may be accessed through the Philippine Judicial Portal beginning 8:00 a.m. of the same day.
The Supreme Court previously announced via Bar Bulletin No. 1 that this year's exams will be held in September and that six core subjects will be taken in the three-day test.
The date and coverage for Day 1 on Sept. 7, 2025, the AM session will be about Political and Public International Law (15%); while the PM session will cover Mercantile and Taxation Laws (20%).
The second day, Sept. 10, will be about Civil Law (20%) for the AM session and Labor Law (10%) and Social Legislation for the PM session, while the third day, Sept. 14, will be about Criminal Law (10%) for the AM session, and Remedial Law, Legal Ethics, & Legal Forms (25%) for the PM session.
There will be a total of 20 essay questions per exam, with only a single question per number. Answers will be graded with a total of zero to 100%, or 5% per question.
According to a second Bar Bulletin issued in December 2024, the online application will end on Mar. 17, 2025.
In the previous The Supreme Court also shared reminders about the upcoming Oath Taking and Roll Signing Ceremonies to be held on Jan. 24 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay.
The 2024 Bar exams welcomed 3,962 new Filipino lawyers as the results were released on Dec. 13, 2024. It had a 37.84% passing rate with University of the Philippines' Kyle Christian Tutor topping the Bar.
