Jaya is eager for her next 'adventure' to find a new home after her house caught fire
After her house caught fire earlier this week, singer Jaya Gotidoc is on the hunt for a new home to live in.
In an Instagram post on Aug. 10, Jaya reposted a picture of her and her family posing one last time in front of their burned house. They have seemingly recovered from the tragedy as they all had bright smiles despite the unfortunate incident.
"The last time we are ever stepping into this house! We had some pretty fun memories here during our short time. We will never forget all the kind neighbors we had that showed us love and support! It was a fun ride Capitola Pl. Now off to our new adventure and finding a new place to call home!" she captioned her post.
The 52-year-old singer shared on Monday, Aug. 8, a picture of what remained of her house after it was consumed by flames, where broken windows and a charred garage could be seen. Fortunately, none of her family members got hurt.
Jaya's husband, Gary, revealed in an Instagram post that the fire was taking place during his daughter's 16th birthday.
"This was minutes before the fire. It was literally happening right below us during this video and pictures," he wrote in the post, which was accompanied by a photo of his daughter blowing the candles of her cake.
Despite the fire, the Gotidoc family still celebrated the special occasion.
"Nothing will stop us from celebrating Sabriya's 16th Birthday!!! We are just houseless and not homeless. We love you Sab and even throughout all these you are still full of joy! You make me so happy! I love you so much! My heart is full!" Gary wrote in a separate post.
Many netizens posted supportive and comforting messages to Jaya and her family. Others, such as Allan Pajimula, took it up a notch by organizing a fundraiser on behalf of the family.
The fundraiser's description contained Gary's appreciation message to those willing to help his family recover from the incident.
"Thanks everyone for checking up on us. My family is all safe! We were able to to stay least get our cars out before it all went up in flames. During times like this I can only turn and look at God and thank Him for everything He has done and given me," he said.
He added, "Friends and family are the only things that truly matter to me. Material things can always be replaced and you cannot take those with you to heaven. So I’m truly blessed by having all of you in our lives! My family will rise from the ashes but I thank you all from the bottom of my heart that you are all apart of our lives to help us get through this traumatic episode."
The fundraiser has raised more than $5,000 (P277,145) from 58 people as of writing, with the goal being $20,000 (P1.1 million). If you also want to donate, click this link.
Jaya is currently living in Silverdale, Kitsap in Washington state in the US after deciding to leave the Philippines during the height of the pandemic.
