Filipinos among top users of Facebook and YouTube globally in 2025—report

Filipinos continue to stand out as some of the most avid users of Facebook and YouTube, ranking among the top globally in both platforms.

In the latest report by media, social and consumer intelligence company Meltwater and creative agency We Are Social, the Philippines is ranked 12th among countries with the largest connected populations.

A total of 98,025,000 or 83.8% of Filipinos use the internet. This was followed by Vietnam, Bangladesh, Germany, Turkey, Iran, the UK, Thailand, and France.

The country with the most internet users is China, with a total of 1,296,394,000 or 91.6%. Other countries in the top five are India, the US, Indonesia, and Brazil.

Almost every internet user in the Philippines has been on a social media or messaging app in the last month at 99.5%.

Filipinos are also second in the most time spent browsing social media per week at 13 hours and two minutes. The top country is Kenya, with an average of 14 hours and 18 seconds.

If online videos, podcasts, music streaming, and TV streaming are considered, Filipino rack up 54 hours of digital media consumption every week.

Among all countries, the Philippines ranked first in YouTube usage, with 85.5% of Filipinos aged 16 and above using the platform as least once within the past month. The global average is 55.4%.

It was followed by India, South Africa, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, UAE, and Turkey.

The counrty also ranks the highest when it comes to use of Facebook, having 94.9% of users aged 16 and above on the platform at least once within the past month. 

On its heels are Mexico, Morocco, Hungary, Nigeria, Thailand, Romania, South Africa, Vietnam, and Colombia.

As for other social media platforms, 90.6% used Messenger, 82.2% used TikTok, 71.2% used Instagram, 55.7% used Telegram, 41.2% used X (formerly Twitter), 40.5% used Pinterest, 37.6% used WhatsApp, 32.4% used Reddit, 25% used LinkedIn, and 24.3% used Threads.

The report relies on data up to October 2025. Their analysis revealed that the total number of people using the internet reached 6.04 billion by the start of the month, or 73.2% of the total population. 

Reported internet user figures have increased by 294 million or 5.1% over the past year.
