Medical Depot to open 300 new stores in three years, expanding access to affordable medical supplies nationwide
Medical Depot plans to open 300 new stores over the next three years, marking one of the company's largest expansion programs as it works to make medical supplies and healthcare products more accessible to Filipino communities nationwide.
The expansion will add to Medical Depot's existing network of more than 60 stores and over 50 branches currently under construction. Together with the planned new locations, these form the first phase of its goal to reach 500 stores within five years.

Medical Depot Founder, Chairman, and CEO Rodolfo "Rudy" Medina and Vice Chairwoman Lilian "Baby" Medina are leading the long-term expansion, with a strategy focused on bringing medical supplies closer to areas where patients and healthcare providers often have limited access to these products.
Beyond expanding its store count, the rollout also deepens Medical Depot's presence in local communities, building greater public awareness and brand trust nationwide.
Medina described the move as more than a business milestone, emphasizing that a wider physical footprint enables more Filipinos to discover the company's products and services.
"We want Filipino families, healthcare professionals, and patients to have easier access to quality medical supplies without having to travel far from home,” he shared. “Our goal has always been to make these products more accessible while continuing to provide dependable service wherever we operate.”

Unlike traditional retail stores that carry a limited selection of medical equipment, Medical Depot focuses on specialized medical supplies and healthcare products. Each branch carries around 5,000 medical supply stock-keeping units (SKUs), including rehabilitation equipment, mobility aids, diagnostic devices, hospital supplies, pharmaceutical products, and other healthcare essentials.
The expansion also reinforces Medical Depot's long-standing vision of becoming a one-stop shop for medical needs. This gives hospitals, healthcare professionals, caregivers, and Filipino families easier access to thousands of healthcare products and medical supplies in one place.
Medina said the expansion also responds to a common misconception that medical supplies remain too expensive for many Filipino families.
He explained that stronger supplier networks and increased market competition have made many essential medical products significantly more affordable than in previous years.
However, many people, particularly in provincial communities, remain unaware that mobility aids and other medical equipment have become far more accessible than before.

"In many provinces, people still don't realize that proper medical supplies and mobility equipment are actually affordable," Medina explained. "Many patients previously relied on improvised wooden walking sticks simply because local options were unavailable.”
“Direct supply lines and stronger industry competition have lowered prices significantly. Items like quad canes and specialized diagnostic devices are now well within reach for most Filipino families," he added.

One of Medical Depot's priority growth areas is Mindanao, where the company continues to accelerate site acquisition and branch development.
Planned locations include General Santos City, Cagayan de Oro, and Tagum City, as well as sites across Davao del Sur, Davao del Norte, Zamboanga del Norte, and Zamboanga del Sur.
Additional branches also include Cebu, Bicol, and Cagayan Valley, as well as Ilocos Norte (including Laoag) and Ilocos Sur (including Vigan), as the company expands its nationwide presence.
To support its nationwide rollout, Medical Depot secured approximately P200 million in bank financing dedicated to branch construction and inventory.
According to Medina, each new branch requires substantial capital not only for construction but also for equipment and retail stock, making inventory one of the largest components of the company's nationwide rollout.
Medical Depot also anticipates significant job creation alongside its expanding retail network.
The company estimates the five-year rollout will generate approximately 2,000 new jobs across branch operations, warehousing, logistics, technical services, administration, and customer support.

"Our expansion is about more than opening stores. Every Medical Depot branch creates jobs and supports local communities. We believe business growth should also offer meaningful opportunities for people wherever we expand," said Medina.
The current rollout represents only the first phase of Medical Depot's long-term growth strategy.
After completing its three-year expansion program, the company plans to continue opening around 50 new stores each year, supporting its goal of building a nationwide network of around 500 branches within five years.
Looking ahead, Medical Depot sees the potential to eventually operate as many as 1,000 stores across the Philippines through a future franchise program, once its company-owned network reaches a larger scale.
Alongside its retail expansion, Medical Depot continues to strengthen its pharmaceutical business.
The company said pharmaceutical products now account for 20% to 25% of its sales, up from approximately 5% in previous years. Medina attributed the growth in part to Medical Depot becoming the first accredited retail partner under the PhilHealth YAKAP program.
This allows the company to expand its role in providing more affordable healthcare solutions while complementing its established medical supplies business.

Medical Depot is also investing in services that extend beyond the point of sale. The company maintains a team of in-house technicians who provide warranty support and equipment repairs locally, so hospitals, clinics, healthcare professionals, and individual customers can receive technical assistance without sending medical equipment overseas.
For the company, faster local servicing helps reduce equipment downtime while giving customers greater confidence in their purchases through reliable after-sales support.
As Medical Depot expands its presence across the Philippines, the company says its long-term strategy remains focused on improving access to medical supplies while supporting local communities through job creation, broader healthcare access, and dependable customer service.
"As we expand across the country, our priority is not simply to grow our business but to serve more communities with the same commitment that has guided us from the beginning," said Medina.
