Meghan Markle offers first peek into family life after moving back to UK with Prince Harry, Archie, Lilibet
The Sussexes are back in the UK. Meghan Markle just gave her first life update on how she, Prince Harry, and their kids Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, are doing—and it's as cozy as you would expect.
A little over two weeks since she and her family moved back to the UK from Montecito, California, Markle posted a series of videos on Instagram Sunday, Sept. 13. It appeared she was embracing the move well, having accompanied her videos with emojis of the British flag and a red heart.
While still being careful not to show her children's faces on camera, Markle's clips revealed a family life centered around nature and being together.
The 35-second clip began with Harry and Meghan walking hand-in-hand down a tree-lined dirt path, then went on to show one of their children warming their toes by a fire, Meghan splashing in the mud while wearing rubber boots, Lilibet riding a bike with a baby doll strapped in the back seat while Archie runs beside her, and Harry, Archie, and Lilibet in a canoe fishing.
The family brought their dogs with them, with black Labrador retriever Pula included in the clips.
Per PEOPLE Magazine, the family will be in the UK "for an extended period."
The move marks yet another controversial moment for the family.
In January 2020, Harry and Meghan, officially the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, announced they would be stepping back from their senior roles in the royal family. They said they were aiming for financial self-sufficiency and would split their time between the UK and North America.
A few months later, they, with their son Archie, moved to Meghan's home state of California. While there, the duke and duchess sat in an interview with Oprah, where they spoke about their unhappiness in the royal family. Harry followed it up with a biography entitled Spare, sharing never-known details about his childhood and thoughts on being the second son of a royal family.
According to PEOPLE Magazine, the duchess has been offered "a major new project" which, if it pushes through, would mark her first significant role after leaving the legal TV drama Suits.
Although the children have been enrolled in British schools, PEOPLE reported that the move isn't intended to be permanent. The duchess' business venture As Ever, as well as the couple's Archewell Productions and Archewell Philanthropies continue to be based in the US.
On Sept. 7, King Charles issued a letter regarding the Sussexes' move, saying it would be "akin to [being] private citizens]." Per the Sussexes' spokesperson, Harry and Meghan were caught off-guard by the letter, not having known about it before King Charles released it.
