Mayor Isko Moreno declares non-working holiday in Manila on June 30

Outgoing Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko" Moreno Domagoso has declared June 30 a non-working holiday in the city of Manila for the inauguration of President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

In a social media post released on Thursday, June 23, Domagoso said that the move aims to provide Manileños an opportunity to witness the induction of Marcos as the country's new chief executive.

Executive Order (EO) No. 53 signed by Domagoso on Tuesday, June 22, states that the mayor is commanding "all law enforcement officers, including barangay officials, to strictly adopt and implemnt security measures on [the] said date."

During his Facebook Live last May 10, Domagoso, who placed fourth in the presidential elections with 1.9 million votes, congratulated the president-elect and his running-mate Vice President-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio.

"Binabati ko ang pamilya ni dating senador Ferdinand Marcos sa pagpili sa kanya ng higit na nakararami sa ating mga kababayan na hahalinhin bilang pangulo ng bansa. Congratulations po sa inyo," Domagoso said.

He also called on the Filipinos to be one with each other, as it would help the newly-elected government officials run the nation.

"Hindi po magtatagumpay si president-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at si vice president-elect Sara Duterte at mga senador na napili at mga kongresista o halal ng bayan kung tayong mamamayan ay hindi makakaisa."

Marcos, who won by a landslide of 31.6 million votes, was proclaimed president by Congress on May 25. He is set to take his oath of office at the National Museum of the Philippines in Manila on June 30.
