The Land Transportation Office has suspended the license of the driver who was caught on video maneuvering on a pedestrian lane and blocking it as it waited to cross the intersection.

In addition to placing the license under a 90-day preventive suspension, the LTO has also summoned the driver to its Intelligence and Investigation Division on Oct. 29 to submit a sworn explanation regarding the incident. The vehicle used in the incident has likewise been placed under alarm while the investigation is ongoing, preventing any transactions from being done involving the vehicle.

In a video posted on the Facebook group The VISOR Community on Oct. 3 and shared by LTO on its own Facebook page, the Toyota Vios could be seen at the intersection of Vito Cruz St. and España Boulevard in Manila on a straight-only lane. Halfway through the intersection, the vehicle slowly veered right onto the pedestrian lane of the adjacent street, where cars were at a stoplight. The vehicle then backed up onto the pedestrian lane to wait for the light to turn green.

"May tamang lane at tamang paraan ng pagliko sa intersection," LTO chief, Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao, said in a statement released on Oct. 25. "Hindi puwedeng basta tumawid sa pedestrian lane para lang makaliko dahil inilalagay nito sa panganib ang mga pedestrian at ibang gumagamit ng kalsada."

"Sisiguraduhin nating mananagot ang drayber sa kanyang ginawa at haharapin niya ang kaukulang aksyon," Lacanilao added.

In the show-cause order against the driver, the LTO stated the driver violated the rules for Right of Way and Turning at Intersection.
