DNA tests confirm skull in pot and legs in fridge belong to slain Hong Kong model Abby Choi
New findings have been made regarding the gruesome murder of Hong Kong-based model Abby Choi, with a seventh suspect now identified and a DNA testing of human remains found in Lung Mei Tsuen now confirming that they belonged to the slain model.
Previously, over 100 authorities launched an official search for missing body parts of the late 28-year-old influencer, as well as her personal belongings, at a nearby landfill in Ta Kwu Ling.
In a report by South China Morning Post, an insider told them that body parts were discovered at a Tai Po village house and these are confirmed to belong to Choi.
After conducting a DNA test, authorities were able to determine that the skull that was found in a large soup pot and the two legs hidden in a refrigerator at the ground-floor flat of the Lung Mei Tsuen three-storey house were indeed the remains of Choi.
The source told the news outlet that the search still continues in other possible sites as the police have yet to find her torso and hands.
As for the murder suspects, South China Morning Post reported that a new person of interest has been detained by authorities after being suspected of assisting the offender, making her the seventh person arrested in the brutal killing of Choi.
The main suspect in the case is Choi's 28-year-old ex-husband named Alex Kwong, who was apprehended after attempting to flee the city by boat. This was immediately followed by the arrest of his father, mother, and elder brother on the same day.
The murderer is believed to have killed Choi because of "financial disputes involving huge sums," leaving someone "dissatisfied with how the victim handled her assets, which became a motive to kill."
The two other individuals behind bars include a 47-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man, both of which are in suspicion of aiding the murderer.
The awful fate of the young socialite was first discovered when police found body parts in a rental unit in Tai Po district days after they launched a search for Choi, who was reported missing on the night of February 21. There, they also found a meat slicer, an electric saw, and two pots of stew that supposedly contained human tissue.
