Pack your bags: Taiwan reopens visa-free travel for Filipinos starting Sept. 29
ICYMI: It's time to book that international flight, because Taiwan has resumed its visa-free entry for Filipino travelers.
Taiwan’s Bureau of Consular Affairs shared the news that starting Sept. 29, countries such as the Philippines may start entering the country for up to 14 days without a visa.
Alongside the Philippines, other countries included in the visa-exempt list are Chile, Israel, Japan, South Korea, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Brunei.
However, travelers are still required to follow the country's 3-day quarantine protocol before exploring the country, so it's best to take that into consideration when planning your itinerary. The maximum length of stay for Filipino tourists in Taiwan is for 14 days only.
Travelers will also no longer be required to take an RT-PCR test upon arrival and instead will be given four rapid antigen self-test kits to take during their quarantine period.
Taiwan's annual visa-free bulletin is updated annually, and the visa-exempt entry policy is effective for nationals of Philippines until July 31, 2023.
Meanwhile, the quarantine policy will remain in place until October 13 as long as Tawan's COVID-19 situation improves.
Taiwan began easing its borders to foreign nationals early in September 2022 as it recovered from the pandemic. The Philippines was initially not part of the first list, but was previously included in Taiwan's visa-free policy back in November 2017.
