A digital ePhilID will be available this December
How long have you been waiting for your National ID? ICYMI, you can actually get a printable version of the ePhilID as an alternative for the physical ID you've been waiting so long for, and soon, you can get a digital version that you can just save on your phone.
In an interview with state media PTV, PhilSys Registry Officer-in-charge Engr. Fred Sollesta said that a downloadable PDF format of the ePhilID is coming this December.
"Maybe this December, we could launch na the downloadable ePhilID para naman ito sa mga mamamayan na may access sa internet, may mga devices na magstore ng digital na version, ng PDF format ng ePhilID," he said.
According to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) PhilSys, 2.06 million Filipinos have already received a printed ID as of Nov. 11.
You can claim your ePhilID by making an appointment through the PhilSys website and entering the 29-digit reference number from your National ID transaction slip.
Like the printable version, Sollesta said there will be a process to download the digital one involving the use of one-time PINs (OTP).
"Etong ila-launch na downloadable version, ito ay para sa mga kababayan na nagbigay ng cell number nila. Kasi yung process namin diyan ay magpapadala ng OTP sa number na binigay nila sa step 2 registration," he said.
Previously, PSA announced that the printable and digital ePhilID would be accepted as valid and sufficient proof of identity and age.
