Gymnast Levi Jung-Ruivivar, who is part of Team Philippines at the 2024 Paris Olympics, is now safe after suffering a severe allergic reaction in the Olympic Village.

The athlete talked about her medical emergency in an Instagram post as she shared a photo of her inside an ambulance. "Hi everyone, I just wanted to inform you all about a medical incident that took place this week," she began.

Levi said the incident happened during an evening stroll in the Village. "I didn’t ingest tree nuts (to which I am allergic) or suffer from a bug bite, but for some reason I suffered from a severe allergic reaction," she shared. "When I got back to my room, [I] called my parents and got help from my roommate Aleah to find the medical emergency clinic in the Village."

Her symptoms "escalated rapidly" and her breathing "became significantly labored" while she was on her way to the hospital for medical assistance. "My throat began to constrict, my chest was itching, and I had severe swelling. It got to the point where I needed to use my EpiPen and I self-injected it on the way to the clinic," she said.

The PH delegate noted she's now "100% safe and healthy" as she was able to get proper treatment at the medical facility.

"My muscles are fatigued and it definitely took a toll on my body, but I am doing everything I can to recovery and perform at my best possible level. I am slowly progressing back into routines; I will be competing at this Olympic Games and I am beyond grateful to everyone that helped me through this incident," she concluded.

In a separate post, Levi shared a video of herself getting an emergency shot and said that the Olympics "will be memorable in more ways than one."
