Miss World has announced the day it is taking the popular competition to the global stage, and it's happening this December.

The pageant's Philippine franchise announced on Sept. 29 that Miss World will officially hold its international competition on Dec. 16 at ICC Delhi, India.

The 71st edition will be graced by candidates from 130 nations vying for the crown, embodying the pageant’s theme, “Beauty with a purpose.”

Among these is PH’s bet Gwendolyne Fournoil who aims to promote her advocacy of “bridging the gap” in education by reaching learners from the poorest parts of Manila, specifically the BASECO compound.

“One of the biggest problems we are facing in the world right now is the lack of fair access to quality education and part of this problem is the large-scale shortfall in infrastructure, teachers, and other learning tools,” she wrote in her post in January.

“By building the Learning Hub, and providing opportunities for growth to the community around it, I hope to do my humble part in bridging the gap in education in my own country so that I may be able to help less privileged children build their own bigger and brighter futures in the same way that ERDA did for my mother,” she continued.

In August, she called for donations for her initiative to raise funds and provide needed resources to partner non-government organization, ERDA Foundation.

The Learning Hub was officially inaugurated in September. The ceremony was attended by Miss World Organization executives and reigning Miss World queen Karolina Bielawska.

Gwendolyn was crowned Miss World Philippines in June 2022. She vies for the country’s second crown, following Megan Young’s win in 2013.
