Is the United Arab Emirates on your travel bucket list? Starting June 25, eligible Filipinos can enter the country through a visa-on-arrival arrangement.

The Department of Foreign Affairs announced on June 24 that Filipino passport holders who hold a valid visa, residence permit, or Green Card issued by the United States, European Union member states, Australia, Japan, Singapore, the Republic of Korea, Canada, or New Zealand are eligible for a visa on arrival in the UAE.

Eligible travelers may obtain a 14-day visa on arrival for AED 100 (around P1,600), which can be extended once for an additional 14 days for AED 250 (around P4,000). They can also avail of the 60-day visa on arrival for AED 250 (around P4,000), which is not extendable.

Per the DFA, the visa-on-arrival arrangement for Filipino citizens was made possible by the strong diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the UAE.

If travelers do not hold any of the above-mentioned visas, they may still enter the country by applying for a pre-arranged visa, such as a transit, visit, or work visa. A work visa must be sponsored and processed by an employer registered in the UAE.
