Supreme Court targets release of 2023 Bar exam results by December
The Supreme Court is looking to release the results of the 2023 Bar exams before Christmas.
In a press conference on Sunday, Sept. 17, Bar chairperson and Associate Justice Ramon Paul Hernando noted that for the "longest time," Bar Examinees have had to "endure several months of perceived agony of waiting before the results of the professional licensure exams for future lawyers are released." For this reason, they have decided to cut it short this time around.
“My team and I are eyeing the release of the results of the 2023 Bar examinations in early December, before Christmas day,” he said.
Hernando also told the media about SC's other plans in line with the Bar exams this year, including oath-taking and signing of the Roll of Attorneys.
“There will be simultaneous oath-taking and signing of the Roll of Attorneys in December also before Christmas Day so that we will have our new batch of full-fledged lawyers before 2023 ends,” he shared.
“It will be an additional reason for those who will hurdle the Bar exams to celebrate the holiday season,” Hernando added.
The SC, through the Office of the 2023 Bar Chair, said 10,816 candidates are expected to take the 2023 Bar examinations—where 5,832 will be taking the Bar Examinations for the first time, while 4,984 will be taking it for at least the second time.
The three-day tests kicked off on. Sept. 17 at 8:00 a.m. in 14 local testing centers nationwide. The succeeding exams will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 20, and Sunday, Sept. 24.
It will cover six core subjects such as Political and Public International Law, Commercial and Taxation Laws, Civil Law, Labor Law and Social Legislation, Criminal Law, and Remedial Law, Legal and Judicial Ethics with Practical Exercises.
Last year, 3,992 out of 9,183 examinees passed the exam, which is around 43.47% of the total number of takers.
