The Philippine STAR launches e-paper solution with Plantation Bay Resort and Spa

Getting a dose of truthful news has never been this easy or convenient for hotel guests as The Philippine STAR partners with Plantation Bay Resort and Spa to launch its e-paper solution.

As the first hotel to partner with The Philippine STAR for its e-paper solution, Plantation Bay is eager to introduce the amenity to its guests and provide them with a convenient way to access their trusted newspaper.

“We believe the e-paper is an innovative product that can change readership moving forward,” said Brian Noel, general manager of Plantation Bay. “It creates good value for our guests and they’ll have the newspaper whenever and wherever they want.”

With the partnership, Plantation Bay guests can now easily read The Philippine STAR on their mobile devices simply by scanning a QR code displayed in strategic places throughout the resort, making reading the newspaper more convenient than ever.

The e-paper, aside from being a convenient news-reading tool, also boosts Plantation Bay’s efforts at becoming an environmentally mindful hotel. 

“We’re getting into being sustainable, and the epaper is perfect,” said Milai Legaspi, Plantation Bay marketing and promotions manager. 

Better than your news feed

“The e-paper reads exactly like the printed newspaper, only that it fits in your mobile phone or tablet,” explained Lucien Dy Tioco, EVP of The Philippine STAR. “It marries the best features of a traditional printed newspaper with the mobility and flexibility of a digital solution,” he added.

With the e-paper, readers can easily swipe from the front page to their preferred sections—from one article to the next. To read a specific story, they simply need to tap on the headline, and the story will fill their screen for easy reading.

Compared to reading online or social media feeds, the e-paper lets the user read the news without intrusive ad pop-ups just as they would the print version. 

“This makes perusing the e-paper a relaxing experience,” Dy Tioco explained, making the e-paper product a perfect fit for Plantation Bay, one of Cebu’s top tourist destinations.

The Philippine STAR is accessible to guests throughout almost 12 hectares of Plantation Bay as long as they are connected to the hotel’s Wi-fi network. Tent cards scattered all over the property contain a QR code, which guests scan to gain free access to the e-paper. 

As it gathers steam, The Philippine STAR’s e-paper will eventually add schools, restaurants, and other public places to its reach. In the meantime, The Philippine STAR app is available for individuals to download on Apple Store or Google Play.
