Dancer dies after falling off the stage during Cebu pageant

A backup dancer passed away after falling off the stage during a pageant held in Cebu City.

Barangay captain Atty. Kirk Bryan Jaca Repollo of Inayawan detailed what happened in an official statement posted on his Facebook page.

The incident happened during the production number of Enchantress of Inayawan 2024 last Wednesday, Aug. 21. Repollo said one of the dancers “looked ill” as she was seen approaching the stairs. Another witness also recounted that after performing on stage, the dancer collapsed and then fell down the stairs. 

The barangay captain added that on-ground personnel immediately responded and rushed her to the health center so she can be brought to the nearest hospital.  

"Not long after, we received an update that she had already given up," said Repollo.

A social media user close to the deceased said that the cause of her death is still unknown as of writing.

“This is the first time that an unfortunate event of this nature has happened in our fiesta activities,” Repollo said in his statement. “We extend our deepest condolences to the family.” He added that they are reaching out to the bereaved family to provide any assistance they might need. 

“May her soul rest in peace,” Repollo said in his caption.
