Bulacan, Cavite, and Rizal will return to Alert Level 3 on Jan. 5-15 according to acting palace spokesman Karlo Nograles.

Nograles, who also speaks for the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases, said the move comes “due to a sharp increase of COVID-19 cases in these areas.”

The IATF has also recently escalated Metro Manila to Alert Level 3 from Jan.3-15 due also to an increase in COVID-19 infections and the detection of the highly transmissible Omicron variant.

Under Alert Level 3, intrazonal and interzonal travel may be restricted by local government units. Establishments are only allowed to operate at 30% indoor venue capacity for fully-vaccinated individuals and 50% outdoor venue capacity. Also prohibited are face-to-face classes, contact sports, funfairs, karaoke bars and clubs, and casino operations.

The IATF also announced that unvaccinated individuals are barred from going out of their households unless for essential travel.
