GMA News TV rebrands into GTV to lessen focus on news

By Bim Santos Published Feb 19, 2021 8:49 am

GMA News TV will be rebranded as GTV this Feb. 22, in an indication that the free-to-air platform will shed a bit of its news-centric orientation.

GTV, a wholly owned unit of GMA Network, sports the tagline "Keeping it Good" and claims to offer “the news you trust and new shows to love.”

The channel’s line-up of newcasts will stay the same, pulling from its affiliate units GMA News, GMA Regional TV, and DZBB. These news programs will still include “Dobol B TV,” “Balitanghali,” GMA’s flagship news program “24 Oras,” and the channel’s primetime newscast “State of the Nation (SONA).”

Alongside news programming, the channel will also air local drama series, comedy shows, cooking shows, travel shows, as well as public affairs and news magazine shows.

The channel will also air games from the National Collegiate Athletic Association after GMA signed a five-year deal in Dec. 2020.
