Returning foreign visitors to Taiwan can receive NT$5,000 in travel credits
Have you traveled to Taiwan in the past three years? You could be eligible for up to NT$5,000 (around P9,600) in travel credits.
Taiwan is rolling out a new round of tourism incentives aimed at encouraging repeat visits from foreign travelers.
According to Focus Taiwan, the Tourism Administration will begin offering incentives in September, including NT$5,000 travel credits for eligible repeat visitors, as well as subsidies for company-sponsored trips and domestic hotel stays. This came after about NT$3.33 billion (about P6.45 billion) in funding was approved on Aug. 14.
Starting in October, the agency will conduct weekly lotteries for independent foreign travelers who have previously visited Taiwan.
To qualify, travelers must hold a foreign passport, not have a Taiwan residence permit, and have visited Taiwan at least once since Jan. 1, 2023. They must also plan to stay for three to 90 days and arrive in Taiwan between Oct. 10, 2026, and March 31, 2027. Registration will open at 10 a.m. on Oct. 1 through a designated website, seven to 90 days before their scheduled arrival.
Selected travelers will receive an NT$5,000 stored-value travel credit. One accompanying traveler may also qualify for an additional NT$3,000 credit.
The Tourism Administration has yet to announce the number of winners to be selected each week.
Winners can use their credits at 7-Eleven stores or load them onto an iPASS, EasyCard or icash 2.0 for use at participating merchants across Taiwan.
The Tourism Administration will also offer additional subsidies for overseas companies bringing groups to Taiwan for incentive trips. Groups staying at licensed accommodations in Taichung, areas south of Taichung, Hualien, Taitung or Taiwan’s outlying islands from Oct. 10 to March 31, 2027, can receive an extra NT$1,000 (about P1,938) per person per night, capped at NT$4,000 (about P7,752) per person.
This is on top of existing incentives of NT$20,000–NT$150,000 (about P38,758–P290,685) per group for three-day, two-night trips, or NT$400–NT$800 (about P775–P1,550) per traveler for longer stays, depending on group size.
Applications must be submitted at least 15 days before arrival.
International visitors attending conferences or exhibitions in Taiwan from Sept. 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027, will receive a free Taiwan Tour Bus package and a Taiwan PASS, which includes three days of unlimited high-speed rail travel, plus one selected metro system and scenic shuttle service.
The Tourism Administration will also support major international concerts and entertainment events to strengthen Taiwan’s appeal as a large-scale events destination.
More incentives also await Taiwanese citizens, including weekday lodging subsidies of up to NT$1,200 (about P2,325) per night and birthday lodging vouchers for 12,000 citizens.
