Filipino athlete John Cabang has ended his Olympic debut.

On Instagram, the 22-year-old hurdler announced the sad news that he will not be able to join Heat 2 of the repechage of the men's 110-m hurdles due to injury, which he didn't disclose.

He was set to compete at 4:50 p.m. (PH time).

"I am so sorry, I'm not gonna be able to run due to an injury," he said.

Despite this, Cabang is still grateful for "all the people who supported" his journey to the Paris Olympics.

"Laban Pilipinas!" he added.

Cabang missed out on an outright semis berth after securing sixth place in Heat 1 of the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 13.66.

He placed 32nd overall.

The Fil-Spaniard athlete secured his 2024 Olympic Games berth by finishing 28th in the men's 110m hurdles world rankings, where the top 40 athletes qualified.

Cabang reached the 60m hurdles semifinals at the 2024 World Indoor Championships and bagged the bronze medalist in the 2024 Asian Indoor Championships 60m hurdles.

In 2023, he finished fourth in the 110m hurdles at the 2023 Asian Championships, and in 2022, he placed fourth in the 110m hurdles at the 2022 Asian Games.
