Adjusted mall hours starting March 30 to support energy conservation • PhilSTAR Life

In response to the continued surge in oil prices, businesses are unifying to reduce energy consumption.

Just as airlines have begun optimizing flight schedules, local shopping centers are now following suit to support national conservation efforts.

Effective March 30, operating hours for the following locations will be adjusted.

Robinsons Malls

Robinsons Malls announced its nationwide adjustment to its standard operating hours starting Monday.

Operating hours will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays (Monday to Friday) and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends (Saturday and Sunday).

This initiative aligns with efforts to tackle the National Energy Emergency and promote responsible energy use nationwide.

"By optimizing daily mall operations, Robinsons Malls aims to help ease demand on the national grid while continuing to provide a safe, comfortable, and elevated retail environment for its shoppers," it said.

SM Supermalls

SM Malls announced that its malls will operate from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends.

"SM is proactively adapting to the current situation by adjusting our operating hours. We remain committed to delivering elevated retail experiences for all Filipinos, supported by our increased use of renewable energy to power our malls," said Steven Tan, President of SM Supermalls.

Opus Mall

Opus Mall in Bridgetowne will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends.

Ayala Malls

Ayala Malls will likewise operate from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends.

"Your favorite stores and dining options remain open, and we look forward to welcoming you within these adjusted hours," it said. It added that mall-specific schedules have yet to be shared on respective official pages.

Vista Mall

Vista Mall is also adjusting its schedules, adding that ,all hours may vary by branch. Shoppets are advised to check the official Facebook page of their preferred Vista Mall for updates.

Megaworld Lifestyle Malls

Megaworld Lifestyle Malls has also released its schedule, noting that their operating hours “are aligned with how our communities live, work, and spend their time.”

Graham Coates, First Vice President and Head of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, said “Each lifestyle mall is designed to support activity across different parts of the day, and our schedules are designed around how our communities use these spaces.”

The statement also noted that Megaworld Cinemas will operate on revised schedules across its branches.

It will operate from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. from Monday to Tuesday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. from Wednesday to Sunday, with schedules varying per location.

"This alignment supports more efficient energy use while ensuring continued access to cinema experiences throughout the week," they wrote.

"This initiative reflects our commitment to responsible energy use and to the well-being of our communities," they said.

Shangri-La Plaza

Shangri-La Plaza has adjusted its mall hours on weekdays to 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends.

"In light of the National Energy Emergency, Shangri-La Plaza joins the call for mindful energy use through adjusted mall hours. Every small step, when taken together, makes a difference. Move with intention at Shang," they wrote.

Bonifacio High Street

Effective March 30, Bonifacio High Street will be open from 11 a.m to 9 p.m. on Sundays through Thursdays, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

It noted that some stores may further adjust their hours.

Araneta City

Araneta City adjusted its mall hours for Gateway Mall 1 & 2, Ali Mall, and Farmers Plaza.

Starting March 30, the mall will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday to Friday. Then, it'll be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays, and on holidays.

Power Plant Mall

Power Plant Mall in Makati has adjusted its Friday operating hours to 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. starting April 17.

"In support of nationwide energy conservation efforts and our commitment to sustainability, Power Plant Mall will implement new operating hours for Fridays starting this week. Standard hours remain in effect for all other days of the week," they said.
