Passenger reportedly removed from plane after passing gas loudly
In a flight, there’s turbulence. But there’s another situation that can be just as alarming: flatulence.
A plane in the United States reportedly had a passenger passing gas loudly, prompting airline staff to get him out of the aircraft.
PEOPLE Magazine reported about the experience of a social media user, who recalled the smelly situation during an American Airlines flight from Phoenix to Texas in a Reddit post.
The user said they were seated near the row where it happened. An airport staff saw an “audibly disgruntled” and “maybe hungover” man, who reportedly exclaimed, “You thought that was rude? Well how about this smell,” as he loudly passed gas.
“[I don’t know] what provoked that comment, and while kinda funny to overhear,” the user said, “it was uncalled for especially coming from a grown man on an airplane nonetheless.”
The user further recalled that after the man "purposefully" passed gas "moments ago,” he decided to “loudly and condescendingly say, ‘Yeah, everybody, let’s just eat the smelliest food possible all at the same time.’”
A fellow passenger reportedly told the man to fly private, to which he replied, “That’s so f—king rude.”
Another passenger told him that he was the one being rude, to which he replied, “That’s so low class,” before another passenger told him, “Well, you’re back here in the economy with the rest of us.”
Due to the commotion, the Reddit user said the plane, which had already left the gate and had been moving toward the runway for takeoff, stopped and returned to the gate.
The user recalled a flight attendant telling the passenger he wouldn’t stay. The latter said he didn’t understand and was told they’d discuss it off the plane.
“He gets up, grabs his bag, and quietly exits the plane,” the user said. “We all breathed a sigh of relief when he was removed.”
The user noted how most passengers “were on edge about what he may say or do next,” and how their trip “was only delayed by 15-30 minutes.”
The user commended American Airlines for handling the situation “swiftly.”
