A woman passed away after running out of water while hiking in extremely hot weather.

According to Hurricane City Police, the 56-year-old in Utah fell into "distress" due to "not having enough water" and "the temperature being 106 degrees Farenheit" during her hiking session.

Authorities said they responded to a call for help near Quail Creek State Park last weekend, where the hiker was found unresponsive on a trail.

She was given immediate assistance, including life-saving measures, as soon as possible. Those efforts, however, "were not enough to save her."

Further details, such as the woman's name and hometown, have yet to be released as the case is still under investigation.

Police thanked the Washington County Sheriff's Office, the Hurricane Valley Fire, and the State of Utah Department of Natural Resources for their assistance.

NBC News reported that this marks "at least the fifth death at state and national parks" in July alone.

According to CNN International, experts advised hikers to acclimatize themselves to hot weather, bring lots of water and electrolytes, wear light and loose outfits, and have an umbrella, a fully charged phone, and a friend with them so they can stay safe while hiking in high heat.
