RECORD HIGH: PH logs 26,303 new COVID-19 cases
Philippines saw a single-day rise of 26,303 COVID-19 infections, taking the overall tally of cases to 2,206,021. The daily caseload went up again compared to Friday's 17,964.
According to the Department of Health (DOH), of the new cases, 95.5% are mild and asymptomatic.
79 more deaths were confirmed, leaving the death toll at 34,978.
Meanwhile, 16,013 patients have recovered from the virus, making the total number of recoveries at 1,985,337.
The DOH also noted that two laboratories failed to submit data in time for the report.
They added that the number of cases may go higher in the coming days. They also urge the public to strictly follow all health protocols as the highly contagious Delta variant is spreading fast across the country.
